Game Day!

Monday, August 9, 2010

On our second day as a class in Berlin we had plans to to go on a bike tour. Well, the weather had other plans for us, so we walked around in the rain instead. During this walk we stooped in the train station to have some lunch. While there we came across a futbol fan club chanting, and drinking making a fuss. Here are some of my photos of the event!

Wandering Berlin

Sunday, August 8, 2010

The First few days in Berlin were filled with rain and cold weather, but that did not keep me form exploring my new surroundings.  Above is a photo of the little mart up the street from our Loft they had fresh fruit set out every day.

On the first day we went to see the Berlin Wall as a class. This is my friend peering through the wall to the other side.

We did a lot of walking in the cold rain, and I being the Florida girl I am was not appropriately dressed for the wet and cold occasion. Above is the bombed out Church left as a memorial to the war. It sits in and area of Berlin that reminds me of Time Square
The inside

This is an amazing building that is used as a squatter house. I even saw a mother with a stroller come walking out with here kids. I cant imagine what it would be like growing up in a squatter community. It seemed that some of the rooms had even rigged some electricity. Berlin is full of places like this, and there are even little mini-communities in areas the death strip of the Berlin Wall once was. They just took over the open land, they have homes, and even bars with stages to preform and bring in outsiders to make money.

I hope you Enjoyed!

Berlin Wall East Side Gallery

Saturday, August 7, 2010

So I have been taking my time to share my summer travels on all my websites/blogs, but am trying to get better at that. This May I spent my time working on a photo story in Berlin, Germany. I was there for about a month and took lots of photographs so I will try to share with  in doses. It is fun since the photos from my travels on each of my sites are not that same, making each interesting for you guys to look at. This post is photos of the Berlin wall at the East Side Gallery. If you were not following the Berlin blog that I kept while there take a look now and catch up.

I hope you like them :)

So the Second to last week of classes was a very productive time for me and the Alligator. I was published 4 out of 5 days and 3 of those 4 were cover page photographs. I had a great time photographing all four, and look forward to working to the Alligator this summer, and getting paid :) keep them crossed. In the mean time I am doing freelance senior photos, and working for Campus talk. Oh and getting ready for BERLIN IN MAY!

Weekend Events

Monday, April 5, 2010

This weekend was a long one! My Mom and Dad were in town to help me with my new house, and we were able to paint all the bedrooms, and prime the living room. I also took out the carpet in two of the rooms, and worked on the back yard. During all this I got an assignment from the Alligator, and of course like always I took it! It was a bit of a challenge since I was covered in paint, did not have my camera, and needed to be there right away. Some how I managed to change, get my camera, and make it just in time to catch the tail end of the event. After all that work It was published in to days paper! A day in the life of some one trying to make it in the photojournalism world :)

LBGT Health Fair

I hope everyone got to enjoy this Easter/ Passover weekend with their loved ones.

Take a look at it on the Alligator Website !

Today I was published on the website! Take a look It was Wilson Cruz on of my many tween crushes, so that was very exciting. They did not give me my cut line... so I will have to call them so I get the right credit for my photo.

Scott Sampson @ UF

Friday, March 26, 2010

The Alligator asked me to photograph Scott Sampson last night at the Florida Museum of Natural History. He gave a very interesting talk on Dinos and his VERY popular PBS children's show.
Take a look! The editors pic would not have been mine, but I guess that is why they have editors.

Thanks!
