Moving to the Old South

Were moving SOUTH! My husband and I will be returning to my home land of Florida, and I could not be more excited. We will be living in Gainesville located in north central Fl. Over Christmas we spent a week with my parents in Gator Land ( AKA Gainesville). This part of Florida reminds me of the old south, huge moss filled trees as far as the eyes can see. Here are a few pictures that I have from my last visit. These were taken at a location by my parents house on Paynes Prairie. For more information on the amazingly beautiful Paynes Prairie got to this link http://www.floridastateparks.org/paynesprairie/

Concert Photos

So I have not given much thought to the creative ability of photography at live concert performances. These pictures were taken on my small four year old lived through my best years of college Cannon Power shot. The quality is not the best, but I made it work the best I could. After much though I have come to the conclusion: I will try to attend as many concerts as I can in order to practice live concert/music photography. I am doing so in order to expand my portfolio and experience base. It is always good to get as much experience in all different areas of the field right? When photographing musicians from the crowd it gives a more personal touch and makes you creative with the lighting, and even the people in the way. Sometimes the lights can be too bright or too dim, so it is exciting to see what works and what does not in the situations.
Hanson the Walk Tour
Hanson put on an amazing show with a mixture of old school songs and all their new stuff. Fans were going crazy and singing along to every single song! When Hanson whipped out their very first hit single MmmmmBop things got even wilder. Over all there show was enjoyable to die hard, old school, and new fans of all kinds.

I was playing around with the RGB on Digital Pro and it turned out like this. For some reason I love it :)
This was a great show, I was actual working as a Jager girl and got to go back stage and ON STAGE with the band to give them Jager Bombs during the show. It was very cool!

Toms Shoes! Helping kids one pair of shoes at a time.

Tom's shoes has givin shoe shopping a new meaning. I have three pairs my self, and counting. Buy one pair and they give another to a child in need. I have been a Toms fan for over a year, and now they are everywhere. I would normally think this is a bad thing, that everyone has my shoes, but in this case it is good to be like everyone else! The more people with Toms the more children who get shoes so shop on!

I know this has nothing to do with photography, but Toms shoes is an AMAZING non-profit company that gives children in need all over the world shoes. How it works is with every pair you buy they give one pair to a child in need! Check them out! If you can participate in the "A day with out Shoes" April 16th 2009. Also don't forget to check their web site and get yourself a pair of TOMS!

This November my husband and I spent thanksgiving with my sister and lovely aunt and uncle in New York City. I was able to get a lot of good scenery pictures on this trip, not so much photo journalism since It was wet and cold most of the time we were there. I was able to get some great pic's of the Macy's Day parade since my sisters office was right across the street from Macy's where all the action happens! This was great experience for me to have such a professional view point to take the pictures. The Macy's stars and Santa at the end of the parade are Iconic to the thanksgiving day parade. Knowing this I tried to capture these images with a power full bold feel and I really think I was able to do so with the pictures I was able to shoot.I felt like a pro up there and got some AMAZING stuff. Here is a sample let me know if you would like to see more I have almost one of every float :)
Special thanks to my sister, aunt Carol, and Uncle Ray I had a great time in NYC !

My Kids
When it comes to photography I have to say my favorite models are my kids!
Gizmo is my four year old long haired Chihuahua, and Bean is my two year old medium haired kitty!
I have always been into photography, but have never been formally trained. In order to familiarize myself with my new Cannon EOS 40D I have been shooting my pets ;0) Living in WI during the middle of winter does not give me much opportunity to get out there and practice. Plus I hate the cold, so these little guys will have to do the trick.
Maybe I should make a career as a pet photographer! :) let me know what you think.
