Cost Rica Visit

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Costa Rica is very green and beautiful, and I would love to go back and stay more than a day. I was not that happy with the photographs I took, I wish I was able to get more, but we spent the whole time in the Rainforest at a new park it was great, but kinda slow for us. I hope you enjoy what I was able to capture, and I promise net time I go I will take more photographs. Oh and there were a lot of crying children at this place, along with the begging children. ugh.
Having a soda brake before our long day in the Rainforest!
Jake enjoying our canopy tour! I had fun, but wish there was more to photograph. Not much wild life and exciting plant life at the park we went to. Don't get me wrong it was beautiful there, but I like to have a subject other than green to photograph. Over all we enjoyed our day, but next time we are for sure going to do the zip line tour. Or better yet stay on the other side and SURF!! A girl I went to elementary school with runs a place called the "Jungle House" on the other side of Costa Rica where she teaches surfing lessons, and all kinds of fun stuff. What a life, right? someday...someday...
Driving to the park...
The view from the boat.

This is the waterfall at the state park we visited. I was bummed because there was not a great place to photograph this beautiful work of nature. I was able to capture the motion of the water even with the bad angles I tried to make it work.

This was with the wide angle
Flower's are ALWAYS fun to take photographs of!
Monkey tail fern!

I love school kids, they make the best candid photographs!
Grave yards... My life's work. Many of you might not know this, but I take photographs of grave yards/ headstones/memorials. I am working towards a book that my Mom and I have planned to create together documenting loved ones who have come and gone all over the world. I know kinda strange.... :)

A window on a soda shop we stopped in at.
I am not sure what this ad is for, but I liked the way it looked. This was at the entrance of a park right across the street from the port.

These next two are my favorite photographs from this visit. We stopped to have a soda before we went in to the Rainforest, and ended up in this very cute Soda/Snack shop. Aside from the begging children outside I love it!

I love the way the shadowed looked from the sun shining in the windows, and was very happy with my success at capturing this moment.

Punta Sur, Mexico

Monday, December 7, 2009

I have had the pleasure to visit Mexico four times thus far in my lifetime. First Cancun for spring break, then Puerto Vallarta, for a more cultured yet fun filled spring break, but my last
two visits were to the same place; Punta Sur, a beautiful place in Cozumel, Mexico. The last time I was there I took and amazing Hammock photograph that know hangs on a wall in my home. This time I found my self taking a photographs of the same thing. After a fun filled day at the beach Jake and I ended up taking a wonderful nap in these very hammock's. For some reason when I think Mexico two things come to mind ''Day of the Dead'' (El Día de los Muertos or All Souls' Day) and hammock's. My dream photography job would be to document the Day of the Dead, but for now taking pictures of hammocks will have to do. So enjoy, take a look, then sit back close your eyes and imagine yourself in this wonderful beach side paradise.

On a Boat

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Okay so I have a lot of photographs to get posted on here, but not as much free time. So I will start with ship photos. These are from the outside in and will give you a good look at our city on water. Our Cruise went from Port Everglades to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. I took over 600 photos and will share some from each stop with you over time. Panama was by far the best stop for my photojournalist style of photography. Be patient with me and I will work hard to get these blogs posted sooner rather than later! It is nice to be home, but work and the holiday season are keeping me busy! Thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving as much as I did out at sea.

On our way out of the US it gave us the most beautiful good bye, via the sky.

Do you see the airplane?

Yummy!
Soft serve, enough said.
NOt sure what room this was.
The casino, we did not spend much time here due to lack of funds.
The sports bar had cool seats, we did spend some time here.
In side the main lobby.
All this is on the water, so cool. I used my new Ultra Wide angle lens to take this and a few other boat shots. I love my new Wide Angle!
The main stage on the ship very neat.
At port Everglades this place was massive!
Our boats flags, I think they are all the flags of the crew's homelands. At least it would be cool if it was... just a guess.
Life boats are a must have. End of story.
This is not our boat but another on at the port, there were about 10 other cruise ships at Port Everglades.
This is the big TV at the main pool. It looked very cool, but we did not spend much time at all here due to lots of screaming children.

Trying New Things Can Be Very Fun ;)

Saturday, October 17, 2009

So while not all of these were taken with my new 10-22mm a few were! This weekend we got to go to the Gator Growl, an all student run Homecoming event at the University of Florida. It is at the SWAMP at night, and I was able to play around with ISO and F/Stop and I will say I had a lot of fun! Due to the fact that is was in a football stadium and the performers were far away and the lighting crazy It was fun to find was to capture the night.

This is the stands all the way across the stadium! I loved the way the shadows looked, and wish I would have gotten a few more.

The closing band was O A R... they are good, but it was so hard to get any good photographs of them. At one point the sax player ended up right next to our seats playing! I had my camera in my bag... learned my lesson... ALWAYS keep your camera handy!

This is Dana Carvery he was the guest comedian, and was very funny. He is a small man and was also hard to photograph he liked to move around a lot.

Okay, this is one of my first attempts with the Wide Angle Lens at night... not very focused but still cool.

This one turned out the best.. I think I took so many and they were all a bit different when it come to lighting. I enjoyed the show and had a great time trying new things with my favorite toy!
Enjoy!

The Great Outdoors!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

I know I keep saying this, but I am sorry I have been slacking in the Blogging world! Some day I will find time to post all my great photos I have collected over the summer, someday!

This summer we have been all over the place. Two weeks ago Jake and I were able to go to ATL and North GA to see my family, and help to celebrate my great aunts 95th Birthday. Here are some photos from my outdoor adventures while we were there.

I don't think of myself as a nature photographer, but I gave it a try. How did I do?

Enjoy-
